Simple Folio Made with Carta Bella’s Welcome Winter

Welcome Winter Folio

Hi crafty friends. It’s Kristine and I want to share a simple folio I made using the beautiful papers in the Welcome Winter collection. In this collection, there are 12 x 12 papers that are perfect for larger projects such as folios and mini albums. The beautiful images lend themselves to just about any winter-time activity. And the ephemera and chipboard pieces are perfect for some dimension. Not to mention, the decorative brads give a little extra sparkle to the front cover.

For my folio, I started with three pieces of chipboard for the covers and two thin spine pieces. I wanted my folio to have a simple design that was easy to make. However, I still wanted it to be as interactive as possible. With double sided papers like in the Carta Bella collections, I try to showcase both sides. In my folio, you will see that I did not use any other cardstock to create flaps or pockets. This is one great way to cut down on materials, but also to maximize the decorative papers.

Inside the Folio

One of the best things about the Carta Bella Welcome Winter collection is the cut apart pages. These pages make it easy to create tags and photo mats. I dressed my cut apart cards up by cutting off the top corners and adding ribbon. It is a simple way to make tags. The best part is that the tags are cut and functional!

In order to make pockets and a belly band, I used the larger cut apart cards. The cards are the same size as my folio so they are perfect to use in this way! For some extra decoration, I chose to use the puffy stickers in the collection. I like that these stickers add just a bit of dimension, but they are not overly bulky. One of the things I like about this design is that even when the folio is stuffed full, it will close flat.

This simple folio will hold approximately 20 photos as is. However, more photos can be placed on mats or additional tags. The best part is being able to customize it with photos and journaling. It is also a quick project that can be given as a gift.
