Gift Tag Tutorial - How to Make Stunning Tags for Christmas

Pink Christmas gift tag

Hi crafty friends. It’s Kristine and I’m back with a quick and easy project tutorial. A handmade gift tag is a beautiful way to dress up your packages. Although they may look complicated, they are easy to make. To make these tags, I will use Stamperia Pink Christmas. Also, I will be using the Graphic 45 ivory ATC size tags along with my Graphic 45 metal tag die set.

Once you have your supplies, cut 7 background papers for the tags. For this step, I am using 4 papers from the Collectables sheet and 3 papers from the 6x6 paper pad. If you don’t have the metal die set, you can hand cut the papers for your tags. Then, glue one tag to the front of each tag.

Next, we will use the metal foliage dies in the set to cut two pieces for each gift tag. This will add some dimension to the tags. I am using plain white cardstock for my foliage.

Once that is done, it is time to start fussy cutting pieces from the Pink Christmas papers! I selected images from the 8x8 papers and the Collectables papers. Each gift tag will have a sentiment on the front along with an image from the collection. I also used some of the wooden shapes to add dimension to 3 of my tags. Arrange the pieces on the front of the tags until you are happy with the overall look.

Assembling the Gift Tag

Once you have everything cut, it is time to assemble the gift tag. I will start by gluing the stem portion of the foliage first. If you don’t add glue to the leaves, it will allow them to lift up and give your gift tag dimension and texture. Then, I add foam squares to the larger image on each gift tag. We are slowly building up the tag, one layer at a time. Then, I will glue the smaller elements to the tag front. Finally, after my tags are assembled, I will use Stamperia glitter paste on the foliage for some extra sparkle.

Once the glitter pate is dry, the final step is to add ribbon or trim through the loop in the top of the gift tag. I am using a faux fur trim intertwined with gold thread. This will give my tags a wintery and shabby chic feel.

The best part about these tags is that you can make them with any paper collection! I hope this post has inspired you and that you will try making your own gift tag. The FotoBella online store has so many gorgeous Christmas collections to choose from. Stop by today to choose your favorite ones!

Happy crafting!
