Handmade Card base, sentiment sticker

Creating your Well Groomed Hello Greeting Handmade Card

Lets get started by matting these yellow papers onto black papers from your Solids and Pattern pack. Adhere these to your black paper card base. You can use double sided tape, or paper glue. Whatever you choose!

Trim the stripe and floral papers from the Collection Papers pack and add to your card as shown in my image below.

Next, lets cut the banners from the Patterns and Solids paper pad. Adhere this to the top of your handmade card, like my image shows. Trim 2 thin strips of blue solid sheet, and add them to the card as shown.

Adhere the Well Bred cat sticker from collection onto a smaller cut blue solid paper piece, as show in my image. Trim the blue papers to provide matted image.

Tropical Mini Album Made with Simple Vintage Coastal Collection

Simple Vintage Coastal Mini Album

Hi crafty friends. It’s Kristine and I’m back today with my final project using the Simple Vintage Coastal collection by Simple Stories. With the tropical images and soft, yet bold color palate, the collection is fun to work with! I love when paper collections are versatile and ideal for various paper crafting projects. So far, I have made a card, a tag, a decorative candle trio, and a layout with these gorgeous papers. Each of these projects are posted on the FotoBella blog. Next up, the most detailed project. Today, I want to share with you the mini album I created, perfect for any beach vacation.

Whether you have a stack of photos from previous beach destination vacations or you’re planning your next tropical getaway, this paper gives off major tropical vibes!

How to Use the Entire Collection of Products in Your Mini Album

In order to maximize my papers, I like to use the plain papers from the Basics Kit combined with the patterns of the Collection Kit on my mini album pages.

Stickers decorate mini album pages

Further detail can be added to the mini album pages with the various embellishments. For example, the Sticker Book is ideal for adding labels to photo mats with the catchy beach phrases. And the Foam Stickers give a bit of extra dimension to an otherwise flat page.

The Bits and Pieces pack is full of fussy cut images. These pieces are ideal for adding to the sides of photo mats for your photos to tuck behind.

For the cover and spine of my albums, I like to use chipboard pieces to add slight dimension while remaining flat. The Chipboard Stickers are perfect for doing so, and the Decorative Brads give an added bit of texture.

Spine of the mini album

For a more in-depth view of my mini album pages, please check out my YouTube video (below). It showcases these gorgeous tropical papers, and the subtle use of the collection extras elevate the pages to the next level. Don’t forget to check out the FotoBella online store to purchase this Simples Stories collection and to see all of the other goodies in stock today!

Candle Trio Decorated with Simple Vintage Coastal Papers

Simple Vintage Coasta Candle Trio

Hi crafty friends. It’s Kristine and today I am here to share my first project featuring the gorgeous Simple Vintage Coastal Collection. For my first project, I will show you how to decorate a trio of candles for your home. I love making home decor, and this candle set is no exception. Since they’re battery operated, they are safe to use, too!

This paper line is by Simple Stories, and it features gorgeous coastal images including shells, flamingos, pineapples, and florals. For my candle set, I am using one sheet of paper from the 12x12 Basic Kit. Each candle also has one of the 2x2 cut apart cards from the 12x12 Collection Kit. Embellishing the candles is easy with the Bits and Pieces pack, Sticker Book, and Decorative Brads. Other items from my stash include a burlap trim and aqua twine.

Adding Texture to the Candle Base

In keeping with the beach theme, I want my candle bases to have a rough, sand-like finish. This can be accomplished by using texture paste such as Prima’s Jewel Texture Paste or making your own. I opted to make my own texture paste from glue, cream acrylic paint, glitter, and baking powder.

Homemade Texture Paste with Sand-like Finish

Once my mixture was ready, I used a palette knife to add a thick coat to the top and bottom of each candle. Next, I used a paintbrush to apply Nuvo Mousse in Coastal Surf to the texture paste. Then, I added a light layer of Nuvo Mousse in French Rose to each candle. Finally, I added another layer using Coastal Surf. Once my Nuvo Mousse was dry, I cut a piece of the aqua paper from the 12x12 Basic Kit and adhered it to the center of the candle. Next, I wrapped each candle in burlap trim.

Embellishing the Candles

Then, I added one of the the 2x2 cut apart cards from the Collection Kit to the center of each candle. From the Sticker Book, I selected one of the border strips, cut it apart, and added one piece to either side of the cut apart card. A twine bow with a decorative brad is adhered to the top of the card. Then, I selected greenery from the Bits and Pieces pack for each side of the card, and one floral piece for the bottom of the card. To finish each candle, I selected one of the sentiments from the Sticker Book, backed it on cardstock, and used foam squares to adhere to the front.

This project came together quickly and was a lot of fun to make. With such beautiful paper like in the Simple Vintage Coastal collection, making home decor is easy! I hope you have found this project inspiring and that you will try making your own candle trio today! Also, don’t forget to head over to the FotoBella online store to pick up the Simple Vintage Coastal collection today!

Handmade Recipe Cards featuring the Simple Stories Lemon Twist Collection

Lemon Twist Recipe Cards, simple stories, fotobella

Hi crafty friends. It’s Kristine and today I have a fun kitchen project for you! Decorated with luscious lemon images, the Simple Stories Lemon Twist collection is perfect for decorating some recipe cards. Whether you have lined notecards or use a die to cut some like me, these cute cards are easy to decorate!

Supplies Used

In order to decorate my cards, I used several of the embellishments in the Simple Stories Lemon Twist collection. This includes the Washi tape, chipboard stickers, layered stickers, and the sticker book.

For the base of the recipe cards, I used teal cardstock to match the stickers in the collection. This collection of aqua toned papers from My Minds Eye would be a perfect match! Then, I used plain white paper for the front of the cards to write the recipes.

Decorating Your Simple Stories Recipe Cards

First, prepare the card bases. In my case, I will use my metal die and cut 6 teal-colored cards.

Then, I cut my white paper 1/4” smaller than the 4x6 card size so there is a small teal border around the front of the recipe cards.

After the bases are prepared, add a strip of yellow Washi tape to the bottom of the recipe card front. There is a very small teal strip at the bottom of the card. Then, add the teal and Simple Stories Lemon Washi tape over top the yellow Washi tape.

To complete the front, select one of the layered stickers for the top of the recipe cards. Place the sticker on the corner of the card, just before the tab.

Lemon Twist Recipe Cards

For the back, each card will be decorated differently. Some of the recipe cards will have Washi tape on them, and all cards will have the chipboard stickers on them. Also, I will use some of the stickers from the Simple Stories sticker book to layer behind the chipboard.

Now that your cards are finished, it is time to add a recipe to the front of each card. They can be added to a recipe box, stuck into a book, or even bound together on a ring like mine! If you’re looking to make some of these beautiful recipe cards for yourself, head over to the FotoBella store and pick up your supplies today!

Simple Folio Made with Carta Bella’s Welcome Winter

Welcome Winter Folio

Hi crafty friends. It’s Kristine and I want to share a simple folio I made using the beautiful papers in the Welcome Winter collection. In this collection, there are 12 x 12 papers that are perfect for larger projects such as folios and mini albums. The beautiful images lend themselves to just about any winter-time activity. And the ephemera and chipboard pieces are perfect for some dimension. Not to mention, the decorative brads give a little extra sparkle to the front cover.

Type caption (optional)

For my folio, I started with three pieces of chipboard for the covers and two thin spine pieces. I wanted my folio to have a simple design that was easy to make. However, I still wanted it to be as interactive as possible. With double sided papers like in the Carta Bella collections, I try to showcase both sides. In my folio, you will see that I did not use any other cardstock to create flaps or pockets. This is one great way to cut down on materials, but also to maximize the decorative papers.

Inside the Folio

One of the best things about the Carta Bella Welcome Winter collection is the cut apart pages. These pages make it easy to create tags and photo mats. I dressed my cut apart cards up by cutting off the top corners and adding ribbon. It is a simple way to make tags. The best part is that the tags are cut and functional!

In order to make pockets and a belly band, I used the larger cut apart cards. The cards are the same size as my folio so they are perfect to use in this way! For some extra decoration, I chose to use the puffy stickers in the collection. I like that these stickers add just a bit of dimension, but they are not overly bulky. One of the things I like about this design is that even when the folio is stuffed full, it will close flat.

This simple folio will hold approximately 20 photos as is. However, more photos can be placed on mats or additional tags. The best part is being able to customize it with photos and journaling. It is also a quick project that can be given as a gift.

Carta Bella Folio

To see a flip through of the folio, please check out my YouTube video below. I hope you will try making a folio of your own using these beautiful papers. They are still in stock in the FotoBella online store so head over there today and pick up the collection!
