Hello paper crafters! ReNae here, with the FotoBella Design Team. I am happy to announce the start of our year-long card making series featuring the “Fashion Forward” paper collection by Graphic 45. Each month for the next year I will feature a different technique for cardmaking. I will then create one card and one tag with that technique and post detailed step-by-step tutorials for each.
About the Fashion Forward Collection
This collection is one of the most beautiful calendar collections Graphic 45 has ever released! It’s not a new collection. However, the gorgeous vintage images of 1920’s fashion, and the brilliant colors in this collection make it a perfect choice for our year-long card series.
What We’ll Create
Each month beginning in January, I will feature a new and different technique for cardmaking. January’s technique is “Glitter & Glitz”. There will be two projects featured from the Graphic 45 Fashion Forward collection each month. (this includes one card and one tag.) Step-by-step tutorials will be included. Finally, at the end of the year you will have 24 beautiful projects to give to that someone special or just to keep for yourself! How fun is that?

Fashion Forward January Card Tutorial
“Glitter &Glitz”
Supplies You’ll Need
6 x 6 black card base, Graphic 45 Fashion Forward “January“sheet of patterned paper, Ephemera & Journaling card-January, Double Sided Scor-Tape, Extra Strong Wet Glue, White Glitter Paper, Salty Ocean Distress Oxide Ink, White Glitter, Various coordinating colors of Glitter Paper, Foil Paper (optional). Black G45 Classic ink.
Let’s Get Started
Select the “January” sheets from the Fashion Forward collection. Next, select the image with the round black circle and girl wearing a fur hat and collar. Cut out the entire square, card making then remove the girl with detailing scissors. Cut out the words “You are Beautiful”. Set the sentiment and the girl aside. Next, cut the image of the same girl from the January journaling card. Be sure to cut around the flowers carefully. In the photo you can see how the pieces will go together.
Cut the lined white space from the inside of the circle and discard. Adhere the journaling card to the back side of the circle. The first two photos in this gallery illustrate both the front and back and what it should look like. Next, using Salty Ocean Distress Ink, color a portion of the white glitter paper. this is a great way to come up with new colors of glitter paper! Using a thin die, cut out a circle from the white (and blue) glitter paper just a bit larger than the opening. Glue the Fashion Forward sentiment to the top of the glitter circle and adhere to the opening. The last photo shows what it should look like so far.
Adhere the panel to the first square of glitter. I used lavender glitter paper. Note: It is best to use a double-sided adhesive or wet glue, as paper sometimes does not stick to glitter paper) continue adding coordinating colors of glitter paper as desired. Continue adding colors until you have reached a 6 inch square.
Here are some ideas for the glitter. Try lots of colors before you decide what yours will look like! By using different configurations you can really change the look of a card!
Time For Glitter
The next step for the Fashion Forward January card is to add glitter to the cut-out of the girl. Add wet glue to her hat and collar, then sprinkle white glitter heavily over the glue. Allow to dry completely. Using dimensional tape or pop-dots, ad, 110 lb. Cardstock (Ivory) You can find almost everything you’ll need on our website at drops to flowers if desired.
I hope you enjoyed this card tutorial. The January tag and tutorial will appear in my next post. Each month I will post a card and a tag. It will appear the first week of the month. However due to my son’s illness, this month was delayed. I apologize for that but from here forward it will be the first week of the month! I’ll see you soon!
