Steampunk Scrapbook Layout Using Sir Vagabond

Hi There! It’s Lynda from Scrapbook with Lynda. I’m back this month with a steampunk inspired scrapbook layout using the Sir Vagabond collection.

Sir Vagabond, fotobella, stamperia

Those of you that follow me on instagram know that steampunk isn’t exactly my style, but that’s the fun of belonging to a design team. I never know what will be sent, so I need to spread my wings and try new things.

Back to the Future with a Steampunk Sir Vagabond Scrapbook Layout

Looking through my photos I found a few Back to the Future themed photos from Universal Studios, which are perfect for this collection.

The Sir Vagabond paper is so decorative, that this layout came together really quickly! It’s like Stamperia did all the work for me.

Clear Die Cuts

One of my favorite products in the collection is the clear die cut pack.

They are made of a sturdy acrylic, so they are easy to work with. And the black print stands out on the paper.

Sir Vagabond, fotobella, stamperia

Love this clear die cut of Sir Vagabond, because the detail is so amazing. It was the first thing I positioned on the layout, then built the rest of the layout around.

Steampunk Scrapbook Layout Title Cluster

Love it when supplies from the collection can be used to create a page title. Back to the Future is all about time travel, so time travel journal is the perfect title.

Added a couple of foam squares behind the die cut to pop it up on the page.

Sir Vagabond, fotobella, stamperia

The title embellishment is part of the die cut pack. Usually die cut packs are full of cardstock weight paper, but that’s not the case here. These die cuts are chipboard, so they add lots of dimension.

Compass and Ticket Cluster

There are several compass images in this steampunk collection, so I decided to use them on this scrapbook layout.

Repeating the same imagery in each cluster adds unity, so a compass appears in each of the three clusters.

Sir Vagabond, fotobella, stamperia

I placed a foam square under the right side of the ticket, so it would layer nicely over the die cut compass.

Sir Vagabond Steampunk Cluster

The detail on Sir Vagabond is amazing, so he is predominant on this steampunk scrapbook layout.

To keep Sir Vagabond from floating on the page I added a die cut phrase for him to stand on. Next, I added a couple compasses, so they would be appear in this cluster too.

Placed foam squares behind the Sir Vagabond die cut, then added him to the cluster.

Working with steampunk wasn’t my thing, but I need to rethink that after working with the Sir Vagabond collection on this scrapbook layout. It was totally fun and easy. Plus I love the way the paper and embellishments highlight my photos. Maybe steampunk is my thing after all! I encourage you to give it a try, as the Sir Vagabond collection is so easy to work with.

Please stop back later this month to see another steampunk inspired scrapbook layout made with the Sir Vagabond collection from Fotobella.com. And please stop by my facebook page to see more of my creations.

Happy Scrapping!

How to Stamp with Stamperia Texture Moulds

I was so excited when I got the Stamperia Atelier collection in my design team box. I just love that blue butterfly. But I realize sometimes I get in a bit of a creative rut and use the same things all the time. So I challenged myself not to use the butterfly until I had created a few projects. So to get started playing with a “new” paper set I usually warm up with a card to get my creative vibes moving! and I give myself a bonus if I try a new technique! So here is the result! I decided to use my Stamperia Texture mould as a stamp.

Supplies

Stamperia Texture Mould - Mannequin

Stamperia Atelier Paper Pad

Buttons and More Galore- Desert Sky

Graphic 45 Rose Bouquet Collection

Distress ink, burlap scraps, jute, button, kraft card base.

The Project

Cut your Stamperia Atelier Paper to be slightly smaller that your card base. Don’t secure to your card just yet. Instead secure this piece to your work surface using a repositionable adhesive.

Using your Stamperia Texture Mould - Mannequin , generously apply ink to the “raised” side of your mould. The distress ink may bead but that won’t affect the result for this project.

http://stamperia, atelier, stamping, fotobella

Turn the Stamperia Texture Mould over and press/stamp onto your patterned paper.

http://stamperia, atelier, stamping, fotobella

Carefully press into mould areas to insure ink transfer. Carefully Lift your Mould.

Adhere your background piece to your card base. Cut tag from Stamperia Atelier Paper Pad. Stamp greeting on the back -burlap side. Adhere to your card. Cut burlap scrap and adhere over corner of tag.

Sporadically adhere stars from Buttons and More Galore- Desert Sky. Now, add roses from the Graphic 45 Rose Bouquet Collection. Tie jute into a button and a jute bow, then adhere to finish your card. You can see all the dimension in this card below!

Simple Shaker Card for Valentine’s Day Using Simple Stories

Hello crafty friends. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll be making handmade cards. Shaker cards are simple and so much fun. The new Simple Stories Vintage My Valentine bundle is the perfect package for all of your Valentine card needs! The bundle contains 6 double sided sheets of cardstock, 2 sticker sheets, chipboard stickers, layered chipboard frames, a mini sticker book, and 3 rolls of coordinating Washi tape. Head over to the FotoBella online scrapbooking store now and treat yourself!

In addition to the Simple Stories Vintage My Valentine Bundle, FotoBella offers a variety of products perfect to create with for Valentine’s Day. I am also using the beautiful gold foil transfers from Bo Bunny to accent my card. To make my shaker piece, I am adding “Sweethearts” and “Crystal Hearts” Sparkletz Embellishments from Buttons Galore & More to my shaker piece. The focal point for the inside of my card is “Willow,” a Julie Nutting doll stamp that is available in the FotoBella online store.

I hope you will check out the written instructions and short video tutorial below and try making one of these fun and easy shaker pieces yourself. You will love the look when it is finished and be amazed at just how simple it is to make!

Making the Shaker Piece - a Simple Tutorial

To begin making the shaker piece, you will need a small piece of plastic. I am using a piece of a page protector that is cut to the size I need. However, you can also use acetate sheets or even recycle the packaging from your craft store purchases! Next, you will need to select one of the chipboard frames from the Vintage My Valentine layered frames assortment. I am using one of the smaller frames for my project. Measure the opening of your frame and cut the plastic 1/2” larger to allow for a 1/4” overhang.

Using double sided tape (1/4” or 1/8” sizes are recommended), add tape around the edges along the inside of the plastic. Do not remove the paper backing on the second side yet. My plastic piece already has a seam so I only need 3 strips of tape, but if using two separate pieces of plastic, you will need to use 4 pieces of tape.

Next, we are going to begin taping the plastic pieces of the shaker pocket together. Align all 4 sides of the plastic and peel back a small section (about 1/2”) of the backing tape on one strip. Stick the pieces together. Then, holding pressure on the pieces so they do not shift, gently peel rest of the backing paper off and the two pieces stick together. Repeat this process until you have only one side open.

Shaker embellishments give added color and texture

Fill the Pocket with Embellishments

The next step is the fun part! Add embellishments to the inside of your shaker pocket. In addition to the beautiful Sparkletz Embellishments, I added some plain red sequins and shimmery baby pink sequins from my stash for more color. These Sparkletz Embellishments would be perfect to add to your project for a pop of red. In this step, add a little at a time and then pinch the top so you can shake it up to see the effect. Then simply keep adding more embellishments until you are happy with the result. Be careful not to overstuff the shaker pocket because you will want to see through it when it’s done.

Once the embellishments are inside the pocket, repeat the step above to seal the fourth side of the pocket. Test out the shaker to make sure there are no holes where the pieces can fall out. Then add double sided tape along the edges on the back side of the frame. Keep the tape as close to the frame opening as you can get so the shaker stays flat when assembled. Position the shaker packet on top of the tape with the backing still attached. Using the method described above, start with one side and tape the shaker packet to the frame. Then repeat on the three other sides and you will have assembled your first shaker frame!

Stamperia Ateleier Inspirational Tag Card

stamperia, fotobella, tag card

Greetings, Chris here! Today I am excited to share this Inspiring greeting card I created using the Stamperia Atelier Collection. OK I admit it, ATELIER was not a word in my vocabulary. So when I received Stamperia Atelier Collection in my Design team box I was intrigued. Well in case you are interested, ATELIER is a noun referring to a a workshop or studio, especially one used by an artist or designer. The Collection reminds me of old paper and a old sewing box full of buttons and lace. And that was my inspiration for my card.

Supplies

Stamperia Atelier Collection Paper Pad

Tag and Slot die

Inspirational quotes and sayings stamps

Distress inks, burlap scraps, jute, kraft and white card stock, scalloped circle punch

Creating Your Card

First, cut a piece of white card stock slightly smaller than your card base. Cut a piece of your Stamperia Atelier Collection Paper Pad slight smaller than the white paper. Now, tear the edges .

stamperia, fotobella, tag card

Next, apply distress ink over white paper. You can see the color difference here. Apply as much as you would like.

Crumple your white paper and ink edges and adhere to your card base.

Distress and then add your Stamperia Paper on top of the crumpled paper.

Now, cut your Tags from your Stamperia Atelier Collection Paper Pad . Ink edges of your tags.

stamperia, fotobella, tag card

Stamp sentiments onto your tags. I chose to stamp my sentiment onto a punched circle for one tag to make it stand out! Add jute bows to each tag and set aside.

Stamperia

Die slotted holder and wrap jute around holder. Adhere to your card

Add scraps of burlap to your card. Finish your card by tucking your inspirational tags into the slot.

Valentine’s Day Double Layout with Simple Stories Vintage My Valentine

Hi crafty friends. Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday and I am having so much fun designing my projects this month. The Simple Stories Vintage My Valentine bundle is a sweet collection of papers, stickers, chipboard stickers, and Washi tape. It is the perfect starter kit for just about any Valentine’s Day project. Along with the traditional reds and pinks, there is a soft aqua color that makes these papers unique and fun. To add some dimension, I am using a few of these carved wooden shapes by Stamperia.

Since the bundle only comes with 6 papers, I challenged myself to use the patterned paper sparingly. So, I am using mostly the stickers and chipboard to create my Valentine’s Day layout. The focal point of my layout will be the beautiful chipboard frames that come in the bundle. First, I am selecting one large and one small frame for each page. Then, I turned the heart frame into a shaker using Crystal Hearts and Sweethearts Sparkletz. The large border stickers in the collection have a lot detail and I like the touch of blue in them. So, I will choose one for each page.

Creating the Valentine’s Day Layout

To start my layout, I am using two pieces of white 12x12 cardstock. I will be making my own background paper using this cute stamp set from Prima Marketing. I stamped my images with pigment ink and then heat embossed them to add texture to my pages. If you don’t have these products, you can simply stamp the images onto the paper to achieve the same look.

Valentine's Day Washi Tape
Washi Tape Border Adds More Aqua to the Page

Once the images are stamped, I will add a strip of the aqua heart Washi tape to the bottom of the pages for a border. This border strip will begin to add subtle splashes of aqua to the Valentine’s Day layout. Then, I painted two wooden flourishes with Stamperia baby pink spray and added one to each of the bottom corners. Next, I will decide where to place my chipboard frames and the border sticker strip on the pages. Then, I am going to use small strips of the patterned paper around the frames. I used a scalloped border punch on the edges of some of the papers to add another layer of texture. I want the papers to add just a tiny pop of color to the layout.

Layering Papers Under the Chipboard Frames

Finishing Touches

In order to complete the pages, I decided to add a few finishing touches to my Valentine’s Day layout. First, I will use a few stickers from the sticker sheet that is included in the bundle. I am also adding cute text stickers from the mini sticker book to the frames. Next, I am using a red distress ink around the edges of the page. Then, I will create faux stitching around the edges of the paper. I really liked the way the faux stitches looked so I added more stitches around each element on the page. The only thing left to do is add my favorite Valentine’s Day photos to the frames!

I hope you enjoyed seeing how this simple layout was made using Simple Stories Vintage My Valentine bundle. Head over to the FotoBella online store today and pick up a bundle to start a beautiful Valentine’s Day project of your own!

Using Stamperia Atelier Collection on a Mixed Media “Masterpiece”

Greetings Chris here sharing this “masterpiece” I created using the Stamperia Atelier Collection Papers. The whole time I was creating this I kept thinking Masterpiece??? but I am still a work in progress! So I decided to document that.

Supplies

Stamperia Atelier Paper Pad

Prima Art Alchemy- Gold Rush

Stamperia Laces Mould

Stamperia Gold Cream Paste

The Stamperia Bordure Carved Shapes

Distress ink, burlap scraps, jute, buttons, paper doilies, stitches stamps, gold ink, corrugated paper, metal key and keyhole, pearls, Kraft Card stock

Creating your Masterpiece

Day 1: Start by adding Stamperia Gold Cream Paste into your Stamperia Laces Mould. Be sure to apply generously. Let dry overnight.

Day 2: After your impression is dry, Gently peel away your Texture impression.

Trim edges off to leave lace. Set aside.

Next, tear a piece of corrugated paper and ink ridges using gold ink.

Then add your “lace’ impression to your card stock. Notice how I cut away a piece I knew was going to be covered and saved it for a future project. Add inked corrugated paper over edge. Stamp random stitches around your card stock edges in gold/brown ink. (I inked stamp with both colors.

Cut a card from your Stamperia Atelier Paper Pad. I added a notebook border punch to the top edge. Stamp Masterpiece quote and adhere to you background. Add burlap scraps to paper as shown.

Cut your large Mannequin from Stamperia Atelier Paper Pad

Dress up your Mannequin as desired. I added jute, papaper lace doilies, pearls, gold buttons and stamped stitches. Then, I added a keyhole for “my belt”. I just love all the details!

Add Stamperia Atelier Mannequin to your page.

Take your Stamperia Bordure Carved Shapes, distress ink and Prima Art Alchemy- Gold Rush. Recolor your Carved shapes adding gold accents shown.

Adhere Carved shape over quote. Stamp random stitches around your card stock edges in gold/brown ink. (I inked stamp with both colors.) Add key with jute bow to finish your project. Here is a close up of my finished Masterpiece.
