Hi Everyone!
Every year I make goodies for my youngest child’s class and teacher, usually full of some kind of homemade goodness.
This year, I made 27 reusable cute bags filled with popped red and green kettle corn to fill each bag.
Not only does it look good it tastes good! YUM!
So-to get started I used SVGcuts ‘Home for the Holidays’ kit and my Silhouette Cameo to cut out each 1-piece bag, adhered the band and trim and that’s it! Really, it’s that easy!
Each bag was created with one of my favorite holiday papers from Bo Bunny ‘Misteltoe’ kit which I found at Fotobella.com
My Star embellishment was created with Epiphany Crafts Star epoxy tool, and coordinates perfectly!
Using a lil distressed Red Tim Holtz inks around the Christmas tree adds a little nice effect, as well.
All that’s left to do is pop the corn and put a tag on each bag and watch the kids [and teacher's] face light up
Kettlecorn Recipe Ingredients:
1/3 cup popping corn 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup popping oil
Cooking Instructions:
Preheat electric stove (just above medium setting). For gas stoves set low, never higher. Preheating is unnecessary. Pour all ingredients into popper. Stir constantly until kernels have finished popping. Quickly empty Kettle Corn onto cookie sheet. While the corn cools, take popper immediately to sink, run hot water into it with liquid detergent. Close lid on suds and let it soak for easy clean-up. When Kettle corn is cool, break into pieces with a wooden spoon. Pick out any un-popped kernels. Makes approximately 4 quarts of Kettle corn.
To add color: Add a few drops of food coloring on the unmelted sugar when ingredients are put in popper. Don’t squirt in one spot; it will lump. Dot small amounts around in 6 or 8 places. Store finished Kettle Korn in an airtight canister or jar.
