Spring Art Journal

Today we welcome the first day of Spring, in all of it's splendor, with the flowers, birds, and colors, inspiring hope and new beginnings! Drea here with an art journal page to start off the season with some Dylusion's Paints and other mixed media from FotoBella.com.

To the background, I glued down three craft feathers, and covered them with Prima Marketing Gesso (White). After drying, I used a paintbrush to apply Dyan Reaveley's Dylusion's Paints (Vibrant Vibrant Turquoise, Calypso Teal, Rose Quartz, Bubblegum Pink, Fresh Lime, Postbox Red, After Midnight, Crushed Grape, and Laidback Lilac). Then I applied the same gesso to the Stamperia Alchemy Moon Stencil, omitting the moon and stars, and turning it upside down, to frame my page. I later embossed over it with Ranger Mixed Media Powder (Bone). The leaves trailing down, were done with the Stamperia Lemons Stencil by applying gesso, and embossing with Ranger Mixed Media Powder (Lime). To add shadows, I outlined it with Dylusions Paint (Black Marble), also used with a Mini Blending Tool on top, to create the borders using an old Tim Holtz Mask.

I also used the Mini Blending Tool with Dylusion's Paint (White Linen) to create a ray of light onto the bird, followed by Prima Marketing Finnabair Unicorn Paste, which has beautiful chunks of glitter. The flowers were embossed with the Bo Bunny Floral Stamp, Prima Marketing Garden Fable Stamp, and the Stamperia Poppies Stamp, colored with the same paints, with beads added to some of the centers.

All of the black embossing was done with Emerald Creek (Black Cherry) EP, with some of the new Prima Marketing Finnabair Stamps (Clear Stamp #4 and #5) used on the background.

I love the poppies, colored with the same paints from the background!

But the star of this page is the bird, cut with the Cricut Expression (Home Decor cartridge) onto white cardstock. Then I added a feather to the top layer wing, covered it with gesso, and colored it with Distress Spray Stains (Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet). The rest of the bird was colored with Dylusion's Paints, with Prima Finnabair Unicorn Paste added to the bottom layer.

Color Day Book

Happy National Color Day! Drea here, with a mini book (4 1/8" X 6 1/8") to demonstrate some color terms and combinations made with stamping and Dylusions Paints from FotoBella.com.

I started with white cardstock filled with stamping done with an old rubber stamp and the Prima Marketing (Garden Fable) Stamp, using Ranger Archival (Jet Black) Ink. Then it was adhered to my book, recycled from a cracker box, and made into the pages that fill it. For the cover, I embossed the Prima Marketing (Circle Stitches) Stamp with Ranger (Rainbow Sparkle) Embossing Powder, also used on the stitching on the spine, stamped with the Bo Bunny (Stitches) Stamp, and the color wheel, stamped with the Prima Marketing (Old Town) Stamp.  To mimic a stained glass window, I painted it with Dylusions Paints, and gave it two more coats of embossing powder for some sparkle and shine.

The title was done with some old Thickers that I covered with Prima Marketing White Gesso, painted with Dylusions Paints, and coated again with the same embossing powder.

This was my first attempt at hand-stitching my binding, done with a strong white thread that glows in the dark.

The splats were done with a stencil and blending tool, using White Linen, After Midnight, and Black Marble Dylusions Paints. To enhance the white splat and make it visible, I embossed it with Rainbow Sparkle Embossing Powder.

The color terms, definitions, and color wheels were printed onto white cardstock. In this example, the color wheel shows purple and yellow as Complementary colors, but here I used Tangerine Dream and Polished Jade Dylusions Paints instead.

On this spread, I used primary colors for my Triad, with Cherry Pie, Lemon Zest, and London Blue Dylusions Paints.

The paintbrushes were stamped with the Prima Marketing (The Archivist) Stamp, colored with Brushed Pewter Distress Spray Stain, and the background done with the (Garden Fable) Stamp.

I love these Analogous colors together using Fresh Lime, Cut Grass, and Polished Jade Dylusions Paints!

All of the enamel dots on the color wheel were painted with my finger to match the splats, and coated with Ranger Glossy Accents. The strip under the color wheel was done with the Prima Marketing (The Archivist) Stamp.

This Split Complementary color combo was made with Postbox Red, Crushed Grape, and Fresh Lime Dylusions Paints.

Finally, I used Lemon Zest, Crushed Grape, Squeezed Orange, and Calypso Teal Dylusions Paints for this Double Complementary scheme.

"Trust the Magic" Dylusions Art Journal

Hello FotoBella Fans! Drea here with the Design Team, and I had a blast making this art journal page with some stamps and Ranger Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions Paints from FotoBella.com!

I started with the sky background, made from Dylusions Paints, (Crushed Grape, After Midnight, London Blue, Squeezed Orange, and Funky Fuchsia) and a little water, applied with my fingers. Then I used an old tree stamp along the sides, stamped with Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink. Besides the gold crackle, the same ink was used for the rest of the stamping, but embossed with Ranger's Rainbow Sparkle Embossing Powder. The gold crackle was stamped with an old Tim Holtz stamp, and embossed with Ranger Gold Tinsel.

The main image and hearts were embossed with the Prima Marketing Finnabair Trust the Magic Stamp Set, which inspired this page.

Then I embossed the butterflies with the Prima Marketing Finnabair Rust & Dust Stamp Set. I used a paintbrush with watered down White Linen Dylusions Paint to paint bubbles on the background, and adhered the sequins with Glossy Accents.

Finally, I added some buttons, covered with Prima Marketing Black Gesso, and sprinkled with beads. Once dry, I went over them again with Dylusions Paints, and finished them off with Prima Marketing Metallique Wax (Vintage Gold).

Halloween Art Journal Spread

Happy Halloween from all of us at FotoBella

Drea here with the Design Team, and I created this spooky spread in my art journal with some mixed media done on a painted background using Dylusions Paints.

With my fingers and some water, I applied Squeezed Orange, Tangerine Dream, and Funky Fuchsia to the page on the right, pressing the one on the left onto it to reveal it's mirror sky image.

Then I used my Mini Blending Tool with a circle stencil to make the setting sun, with Pure Sunshine Dylusions Paint. The witch, like most of the other stamping was done with Ranger's Archival Jet Black Ink and embossed with Ranger's Rainbow Sparkle Embossing Powder using Graphic 45's An Eerie Tale Stamp. The broom was made from a scrap of paper, rolled up, and glued to some rope fibers.

The trees were made with my Cricut Expression cut from black cardstock that I coated with Black Diamond Stickles. Then I used an older Prima stamp to emboss the fence, adding grass along the bottom with some fibers.

Instead of a haunted house, I made a "Magical Manor" embossing the stamping with Ranger's Copper Embossing Powder, and using up some old alpha stickers to spell MANOR.

Most of the manor pieces were stamped with Prima Marketing's Old Town Stamp, and colored with Distress Ink Spray Stains. The roof was done with Wilted Violet, and Blueprint Sketch Sprays, while the wood was stamped and colored with Antique Linen, Hickory Smoke, Vintage Photo, and Walnut Stain Distress Ink Sprays. Then I added Purple Stickles to the skull, embossed again with copper using an old stamp.

The walls were coated with Prima Marketing's Heavy White Gesso before coloring with sprays. Then I finished the edges with Wilted Violet Distress Ink and Bo Bunny's Stitches Stamp.

Watch out for the ghosts that I hid inside some of the windows, stamped with Picket Fence Distress Ink!

     Happy Halloween!

Dylusions Fall Leaves

Happy first day of Fall! Drea with the Design Team, and I'm so happy to welcome my favorite season with this 2 page spread in my art journal using Ranger Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions Paints from FotoBella.com!

Before spraying my pages with some water, I placed some wax paper behind them to protect the other pages. Then I used my fingers to apply Squeezed Orange, Funky Fuchsia, and Crushed Grape to the page on the right, working quickly and spraying some more, before turning the page on the left down over the paints to reveal this background.

Once dry, I used the Ranger Dylusions Diamond in the Rough Stencil in random places with my Mini Ink Blending Tool to apply Dirty MartiniPomegranate Seed, Melted Chocolate, Pure Sunshine, and Tangerine Dream Paints, using the same colors for the leaves.

The leaves were done with one of my oldest stencils, but any one would do, including the Bo Bunny Falling Leaves Stickable Stencil or the Dylusions Fronds of Foliage Stencil.

To create leaves flying around, I made some with crisp paint lines, while leaving others with just a little bit of paint, fading the colors into the background with my Mini Blending Tool. Then I stamped some texture onto them with the Bo Bunny Rough It Up Stamp.

SO much fun with these Dylusions Paints from FotoBella.com! Thanks for looking!

Ahoy Maties Layout

Ahoy! Drea here with the FotoBella Design Team, and I have a fun layout made from white cardstock using this great sketch.

I started by masking off the strip on the left with some tape, and applying Postbox Red Dylusions Paint to the Tim Holtz Zigzag Stencil. Then I masked the other side and used my Mini Ink Blending Tool to feather out London Blue Dylusions Paint. It kinda reminds me of a lighthouse.

Next came a few spritzes of Broken China Distress Spray Stain along the top left and bottom right. Then I added splashes with the Tim Holtz Splatters Stencil and some more London Blue Dylusions Paint.

The netting was stamped with Prima Marketing's Finnabair Net & Wire Stamp using Ranger's Archival Jet Black Ink. Then I used some papers from Bo Bunny's Pop Quiz Ephemera to create the banners, adding a couple of  Pop Quiz Stickers to them.

For the title work, I used Bo Bunny's Pop Quiz Chipboard with some more London Blue Dylusions Paint applied to the upper letters.

Then I finished it off with some buttons and hand-stitched circles.

Thanks for looking, and see what's new at FotoBella.com!

Happy 4th of July!

What's 4th of July without fireworks?  Drea here with the Design Team, and I had a blast making this page in my art journal with my Dyan Reaveley's Dylusions Paints from FotoBella.com!

I started by masking the stripes with some Artist Tape using Postbox Red applied with my Mini Blending Tool. Then I went over them again in the same color using the Tim Holtz Stripes Stencil. The next step was the zigzags made with the Tim Holtz ZigZag Stencil and After Midnight. To fill in the background, I used my fingers to apply a layer of  London Blue followed by After Midnight. Finally, the stars were done with a stencil and White Linen, before adding the title made with the Tim Holtz Alphabet Mask and the Cargo Stencil.

These fireworks photos taken over Lake Tahoe a few years ago were cut from the same star stencil.

For some sparkle, I outlined them with Christmas Red, Blue Bayou, and Sea Spray Stickles.

Thanks for your visit, and have a safe and happy 4th of July from all of us at FotoBella.com!
