Hi crafty friends. It’s Kristine and I’m here to wish each of you a Happy National Scrapbook Day! Can you think of a better way to celebrate the day than to make a layout? I know how much fun I had making my Golden Coast layout to celebrate the day. Today, I will show you the steps I took to make a lovely summer layout. With a name like Golden Coast, this layout is beach-worthy. However, since there are so many soft florals, it can be for any summer occasion!
Prima Golden Coast Collection
These papers feature soft shades of pink and aqua, mixed with a buttery shade of yellow and some soft creams. Also, some of the Golden Coast papers feature a darker blue that reminds me of the ocean. For my layout, I will use the A4 size papers for my background. Then, to embellish my layout I will use several products from the Golden Coast collection. This will include the 4x6 Journaling Cards, the Puffy Stickers, the Ephemera pack, and the Laguna flowers. For my base layer, I will use a 12x12 sheet of pink cardstock.
Creating Layers for the Layout
To start my layout, I will cut two strips of the floral A4 paper to 3” x 11 1/2”. For my edges, I will use a soft green distress ink to help them stand out a bit. In the center, I will use the A4 paper with the hot air balloons. However, I will first remove the bottom right corner and fussy cut around the flowers so they will lay over top the other paper.
Then, I will glue the two floral strips to the left an right sides of the background.
Next, I will place the Golden Coast 4x6 Journaling Card in the lower righthand section of the page. Then, I will add two pieces of crocheted trim to the back side of the paper. Carefully tuck the journaling card behind the fussy cut flowers. Later, you can add a photo over top this card if you choose and it will slide behind the flowers.
Finally, add the entire piece to the center of the background paper to complete the base layer of the Golden Coast layout.
Embellishing with the Golden Coast Collection
Once the base layer is complete, it’s time to move on to embellishing the layout. First, I fussy cut some flowers and the balloon from the A4 papers and 4x6 journaling cards. Then, I will apply these fussy cut pieces using foam tape over top the base layer for added dimension.
Next, it is time to add a mat for a photo and an embellishment cluster. I will start with a pink mat measuring 4 1/4” x 6 1/4” and add one of the 4x6 journaling cards to the center. Then, I will position this photo mat at an angle to add interest. From the Ephemera pack, I will use the “Sunshine” banner (right end popped up with foam tape so photo slides under) and the yellow heart in the left corner.
Off to the right side, I have a fussy cut floral piece behind the photo mat and the seahorse image popped up with foam tape. Then, there is a lace bow, one of the Laguna flowers, and the puffy crab and yellow heart stickers. These embellishments add dimension to my Golden Coast layout without too much bulk.
