Hi crafty friends. It’s Kristine and I’m back with you today with a video tutorial. With winter right around the corner, we are going to be making a beautiful shadow box. Homemade holiday decor doesn’t have to be complex to be beautiful. So today I will be showing you how to turn an ordinary box into a mixed-media masterpiece. Since these Stamperia papers aren’t holiday-specific, you can display them all winter long!
The papers we will be using are the Stamperia Winter Tales 12” x 12” papers. Also, we will be using fussy-cut images from the Collectables papers, some of the clear die cuts, and the wooden shapes. Other than the Winter Tales collection, I am using solid blue cardstock from My Minds Eye. Also, silver glitter paste from Stamperia adds sparkle throughout the entire project. Finally, I will be using sparkly Snow Squall embellishments from Buttons Galore & More.
Other Supplies Needed
In order to make your Winter Tales shadow box, you will first need to select a box. Since the images on the papers are so large, I am using a larger size box (~11 1/2” x 7 3/4”). However, you can use a smaller box if you choose, or if you are using the 8” x 8” papers. To assemble the shadow box, I will be using several types of adhesive including wet glue, double-sided tape, and a hot glue gun. Also, several mixed media products are used in the tutorial including white gesso, blue matte wax paste, and silver Nuvo mousse. You can use plain white, light blue, or silver acrylic paint on your Stamperia Winter Tales shadow box if you prefer.
The fun thing about this tutorial is that you can use it with any papers! Try it out with your favorite paper collection and see how different it will look. Stay tuned for a few more projects using the Winter Tales collection. And don’t forget to head over to the FotoBella online store to pick up this collection before it’s gone!
Happy crafting!
