Sir Vagabond Steampunk Travel Folio with Full Video Tutorial

Hi crafty friends. It’s Kristine and I’m here today with the start of another full video tutorial series for you. This time, the tutorial will feature the Sir Vagabond paper from Stamperia. If you aren’t familiar with this collection, you’re in for a treat!

Stamperia released the Sir Vagabond and Lady Vagabond collections at the end of 2020. With their steampunk travel theme, these delightful papers have been wildly popular. In fact, they are still hard to find! There are two separate collections, but they coordinate and can be used together. More recently, Stamperia released the sequel: Sir Vagabond in Japan. Stay tuned later this month to see my project using those papers!

For this tutorial series, we will be making a simple folio. It will be a large one-panel project with two sides. Also, there will be several photo mats or booklets to pull out of the pockets for photos.

Folio Supply List

  • Sir Vagabond Scrapbooking Pad
  • Lady Vagabond Die Cuts
  • Black cardstock
  • 1 piece of 8 1/2” x 11” heavy weight chipboard
  • Ribbon and buckles for closures
  • Decorative brads
  • Basic craft supplies: adhesive, scissors, ruler, paper trimmer/scoring tool
  • Optional: envelope punch board to create notches, or a circle punch

Sir Vagabond Tutorial Part 1

In Part 1 of the series, we will begin to construct the front of our folio. If you’ve never made a folio before, this design is fairly simple. Even better, I will walk you through step-by-step and give you measurements to make each step. We will begin with the heavy chipboard and black cardstock. Once our base is made, I will show you how to make the pockets for the front and back sides.

From there, we will focus on building and decorating side 1 of the Sir Vagabond folio. First, we will do a bit of fussy cutting, and then begin constructing pockets and flaps. Spoiler alert: you will learn how to make a pop-up mechanism so Sir Vagabond comes out of the page!

Part 2: Decorating the Elements of Side 1

Now that our base of Side 1 is complete, we will begin adding the Sir Vagabond paper. I will again give step-by-step measurements for every piece. It’s so exciting to start seeing the project come together as we go! In this video, we will add our ribbon and buckle closure. Also, we will layer the cut apart pieces from the paper with the Lady Vagabond die cuts. I couldn’t resist adding Lady Vagabond to the project!

If you’ve made it this far, congratulations! You now have one side of your Sir Vagabond folio finished! In the next blog post, I’ll guide you through creating and decorating Side 2 and making photo mats, so stay tuned! Or, if you need to, head over to the FotoBella online store to grab all of the supplies you need to follow along and make your own Sir Vagabond tutorial!

Until next time, happy crafting!

  1. Magnificent blog! Is your topic uniquely designed or did you download it from some place?
A subject like yours with a couple of straightforward tweaks would truly make my blog sparkle.
