Kaisercraft Crafternoon Turning Twenty Quilt Card Tutorial

Hi everyone and Happy New Year to you all. Laurie here, with my first project. I was so excited with the fabulous Crafternoon collection by Kaisercraft! What a fun way to showcase the different ways we all craft. My project this week is a super easy quilt card.

I love to make quilts. One of my favorite patterns is the Turning Twenty block quilt. So, I changed the sizing of the pieces to make 2-inch squares and was able to put 6 of them onto a 5x7 card featuring Kaisercraft Crafteroon. The pieces measure 1 1/4 x 1 1/4, 3/4 x 1 1/4, and 3/4 x 2 inches. Each square consists of one piece in each size and then you just rotate the pieces around in each square so they are not identical. I glued the pieces to a 4 1/2 x 6 1/2-inch piece of white cardstock. It reminds me of my grandmother piecing her quilts onto muslin. Then I cut strips 1/4- wide in lengths of 4 and 6 inches to create a mock binding for my quilt.

Tip: glue one of binding strips along the top and down one side before placing your block pieces. You should have a 1/4-inch square uncovered in each corner.

Once my Kaisercraft Crafternoon quilt was "pieced", I matted it with coral cardstock and then layered it onto my mint green card base. Then I added 3/8-inch squares popped up in each corner. I used a piece from the ephemera package matted onto mint cardstock and attached it over some bakers twine with pop up dimensionals. Then I used two pieces from the fabulous little wooden flourish pack as accents.

I just love how this card turned out! It was so fun to be able to mix two of my favorite crafts into one. I think many quilt patterns could be adjusted to become card fronts. How fun is that!!

I hope you have enjoyed my card and are inspired to create your own paper quilt! Be sure to visit my blog at laurieslazydaydesigns.blogspot.com throughout the month for more fun with Kaisercraft Crafternoon!
