How to Make A Toddler Halloween Layout

Good morning FotoBella Fans, Penny from the FotoBella design team here today to show you how I made this black and white toddler Halloween layout. This layout features my grandson Matthew during his first trip to the pumpkin patch. I printed these photos in black and white because I didn't want him to get lost in all the orange and brown colors of the Halloween and Fall season.

Got Candy?

So I started my Halloween layout with this sheet of 12 x 12 French Vanilla Polka Dot from the Bo Bunny - 12 x 12 Wonderfully Wicked Collection . The pumpkin sheet came from the All Hallows Eve 12 x 12 Pattern Paper collection. Both of these collections are available at the FotoBella Online Scrapbook Store I also used some plain orange and black cardstock not included in these collections.

So in my next step I needed to pick out what stamps I wanted to use to make my page embellishments with, because let's face it finding just black and white colored embellishments can sometimes be a nightmare to find. I ended up choosing the stamps from this set.

All Hallows Eve Stamp Set

They were a fun stamp set to use, and gave me really good crisp clear images. They also had some really cute Halloween designs that didn't look too spooky for a toddler's layout, so that was a plus. I wanted to make my own images because I wanted to have black and white pumpkins to go along with my black and white photos.

That is the great thing about stamps, you can make your images whatever color you need them to be. That is perfect for when you have a hard color or theme you want to match. I did however end up making some orange pumpkins anyway to use on other projects later while I was in the mood to be stamping things.

Next I took out the matching die set pictured below, and cut out the images for this scrapbook page.

All Hallows Eve Dies

These dies cut out my stamped images perfectly. I also cut out some of the plain orange pumpkins in a heavy glittered cardstock just to see if these dies would work on this type of heavier paper, and they worked beautifully.

I used Ranger's Tim Holtz Black Soot Ink Pad for my stamping ink because I didn't want my images to be too dark for this layout's theme.

Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink

While we are talking ink pads here's a ink pad storage tip for you:

I store my ink pads upside down to keep the ink at the surface of the pad, and I keep a rubber band around them to help keep the lid securely. I also use that same rubber band to hold my cosmetic sponge pad that I use for distressing projects. The band keeps the right color cosmetic sponge with the right color of ink pad. It also keeps it where I can easily find it when I need to use it. It works great, and no more mismatched ink sponges! Let me know if this tip works as well for you, and if you have any secret storage tips you'd like to share with me!

Ink Pad Storage

Okay enough small talk, let's get back to making this Halloween layout. Sometimes I can get carried away with fun storage ideas.

I also used a frame from the All Hallows Eve Ephemera set. This set has lot's of fun embellishments in it. I have made several projects with this kit. If you look closely in the photo after this one you will see the color strip at the top of this packaging is used on my layout. I wanted to separate the two black and white photos with just a tiny pop of color, and this strip worked perfectly.

So here is my layout with some of the stamped images glued in place along with my title, and the tiny color strip.

I loved these stamped bats, and pumpkins. I added googly eyes to my stamped pumpkin faces to give them just a little bit more of a kid/toddler friendly appearance.

On the bottom of my layout I added a flower from the Bo Bunny Harvest Orange Dahlia kit.

I also cut the word "Play" from the "Photo Play Logo" on the packaging. I love doing stuff like this to keep things out of the landfills, and it was the perfect orange to match my layout, and give my layout a little color but not overwhelm it.

To finish off my layout I added Matthew's name, and the year I took these photos. I used some alphabet stickers that I have had forever to do this. I also used some star stickers from the sticker sheet that came from the paper kit pictured below, and some stars I cut out with the die cut kit pictured above.

I hope you had fun today and if you'd love to see more fun Halloween projects, cards, and scrapbook pages please follow our FotoBella Blog. Well till next time "Happy Crafting" . Love Penny

Stencil a fun and colorful card and page + bonus page (Also National Color Day)

Happy national color day and almost happy Halloween ! I decided to combine the two holidays since they are only a week apart. When you are creating Halloween projects remember to make it fun- add more color. Try a new color combo. Halloween doesn’t have to use traditional colors like orange and black all the time. Today, i am sharing with you a fun stencil that i used from the simple stories say cheese Halloween collection. I used this stencil to make a 4x6 card and a 8x8 scrapbook page.

First, grab a bright piece of cardstock( here i used the green from the dcwv party cardstock pack) and a texture paste from my stash ( here is a link to a great texture past at the fotobella.com shop- https://www.fotobella.com/Stamperia-Gesso-Paste) then you need a. Spatula of some sort to spread the paste

Place your stencil down on the paper and with your spatula smear the texture paste into and across the stencil so that the paste gets in all the groves. Then carefully lift up stencil to reveal design and set aside to dry.

After the paste on your design is dry , fussy cut it out.

Then on my prepared cardbase of orange cardstock i glue down it down on top.

I then distress the edges with my scissors and add pen detail around it to make it pop

lastly with a boy diecut and stickers from the collect i finish off the details of the card.

For the 8 x8 scrapbook page i do the same techniques Except on the scrapbook page i add more matting around the photo and accent with the stickers . I even customized the diecut of the girl by giving her a horn and black nose to mimick my daughters costume:)

bonus page- i went to a crop recently and i made a page of my oldest daughter from her birthday using the simple stories carpe diem collection i got last year from the fotobella.com warehouse box .

How to Make A Spooky Halloween Candy Dish

Good morning craft enthusiasts, Penny here today to show you how I decorated my spooky Halloween coffin candy dish. I also get to share some great news! I was recently added to the FotoBella design team! I was thrilled to be picked since they carry a wide variety of some of the best scrapbooking supplies around. Now let's get back to how I made my Halloween project.

Spooky Halloween Candy Dish

I started with this plain black cardboard coffin box that I picked up at a local thrift shop. I've probably had this box for 3 or 4 years, but I never found just the right products to use on it. However before I could even start decorating it I had to wipe all the dust off of it! Seriously, I need a good housekeeper so I can spend more time crafting.

Plain Coffin Box

So to begin with I covered the lid and bottom of my box with this cute Halloween ghost pattern paper from the All Hallows Eve 12 x 12 Pattern Paper collection. I cut the strips approximately 2 inches wide and then glued them around the bottom of the box. Making sure to leave the ends open so that I could overlap the edges. I only covered the bottom portion of the box because I didn't want the paper to interfere with how the box lid closed.

Next I traced out the shape of the lid top onto my paper. My lid was different on each side so remember to place your paper in it's correct position prior to tracing, and cutting it out. Then I glued the paper down to the top of the box.

Then I fussy cut all the tiny shapes out of a different pattern paper that was included in the collection, and glued them all the way around the edges of the box lid.

Fussy Cut Images Glued In Place.

So after decorating the sides and part of the top I added this strip of striped pattern paper to break up the Halloween ghost paper on the top of my box lid. It was mounted onto just regular black cardstock that was not included in the paper pack

To add even more fun accents to the box lid, I chose some of these card accents pictured below. This collection included two sheets of these cute title or project life cards.

The "All Hallows Eve" title was fussy cut from the paper collection's title itself. I love it when I can use these little extra items from paper packs on my projects and this title fit perfectly on my box lid. (The orange and black matting where just normal cardstock and where not included in the paper pack.) The gold spotted mounting paper was one of the patterns included in this kit.

You can see below where I cut out the title from the paper pack. Here is a link to that collection if you would like to purchase it for your own projects. I loved that it was double sided and included title or project life cards, and a sticker sheet all in one pack. I find these collections so much easier to use when they are packaged like this.

All Hallows Eve Paper Collection

The collection included great colors, and patterns that could be used on any project, not just for Halloween projects. The texture was great as well, and was a better than normal thickness, which is great when you are making any altered item like this one.

This was the sticker sheet that was included. It had lots of fun stickers in a variety of sizes, and colors in a Fall and Halloween theme.

So next I glued down my mounted project life cards to the lid.

Before adding my center title I added a lot of foam to the back of it so that it would stay securely attached when little hands where opening the lid repeatedly while looking for candy.

Then I glued it in place in the middle of my lid.

So taking another one of the kit pattern paper sheets I cut out a sheet to fit the inside of my candy / coffin bottom, then glued down a a spooky Halloween skeleton on top of it. This was to give them a tiny fright when they reached the end of my candy. That's what they get for eating all of my Halloween candy. Just kidding!

Then I did the same thing to the underside of the lid of my candy dish / coffin, adding the mounted star and "Happy Halloween" sticker.

I wanted to add some sparkle to my box so I added self adhesive bling strips to the box bottom.  Then I added the same bling around the lid, inside the lid, and around the sides. This also helped to hid where I didn't quite make the best cuts when covering the lid and bottom with my pattern paper.

I also added bling to the cross on the lid, the skeleton's eyes, and a few other places. You can never have too much bling on your projects. Along the way I had some visitors trying out my candy! As you can see I had way too much fun with these little creatures, and this box. Now I just have to decide who get's this Halloween candy dish as a present.

Other items available that match this paper collection are these great stamps, dies, and ephemera. I used them on another Halloween project and they work great. I also had great crisp images when using the stamps, and the dies cut beautifully.
