Beachy Shadow Box with the Bo Bunner Summer Mood Collection

Hi all, it's Annie and today I'm back with a tutorial to make this fun summertime shadow box.  This little piece is perfect if you want to commemorate an amazing beach trip or display a special vacation photo.

Start by painting your shadow box in a color that coordinates with the Summer Mood Collection.  Here I’m using teal acrylic paint that has been thinned with water a bit to yield a sun-bleached appearance.

Trim a piece of 12x12 cardstock from the Summer Mood Collection to fit within your box.  I trimmed the “Surprise” sheet to 8.5” x 8.5” and adhered it to the back of my shadow box using a very thin layer of liquid glue.

Using a palette knife, apply texture paste along the bottom edge of the background with loose, uneven strokes.  Create a few fluffy clouds at the top, either freehand or by using a stencil.

Sprinkle sand over the texture paste along the bottom edge of the background while still wet and carefully collect the excess.  If you saved some sand and small seashells from your beach trip, this is a great place to use them!  Set aside to allow the paste to fully dry.

Adhere the layered chipboard sticker in the lower left corner of the box (creating a cluster of pinwheels).  Apply the cardstock sticker from the collection to the upper right corner of the box.

To mat my photo, I choose a sheet from the 6x6 paper pad in the collection.  Because the patterns are much smaller compared to the 12x12 cardstock, you will see more of the pattern in the small border around the photo.

Adhere the matted photo between the two stickers using a double layer of foam adhesive to make it stand out.

To create a little banner, fold the banner stickers from the cardstock sticker sheet in the collection over a small length of black baker’s twine, ensuring the fishtail ends line up.

Adhere the banner and popsicles and pinwheels from the Noteworthy pack to the outside of the shadow box with a strong adhesive or hot glue.

Add a few sentiment strips from the cardstock sticker sheet in the collection underneath the photo to finish the shadow box off.

Here is a closer look at the sand element in my box…I think it adds such a fun touch!  I hope you enjoyed this fun summertime shadow box project and thanks so much for stopping by today.  Be sure to stop by the FotoBella store to pick up this beautiful collection today!
