National Craft Month- Technique How To

We have a good technique for you today, and we are lucky enough that FotoBella Design Team Member ReNae also gives a step-by-step how to do the technique yourself!

Add panache to any project by Using Foil on a Stamped Image
Add a touch of shine to craft projects with Foil!

With the recent popularity of metallics, especially GOLD, this technique is sure to become one of your favorites! It's fun and easy, with no heat required!  So let's get started...

Step 1. Stamp your image with Archival or Stazon Ink. Allow ink to dry.

Here, I stamped some cattails on white card stock.
I  adhered it to black card stock with tape runner.

Step 2. Apply Sticky adhesive on the area(s) you wish to foil.  This does not have to be an exact science!  You are simply adding a bit of sparkle and shine to your project. Fine-line adhesive comes in many styles, and I like to use the Mono Glue Pen by Tombow.

We have two styles from which to choose, either one works great!

NOTE: You will want to apply only small areas at a time, so your glue will not dry before you have a chance to do the next step.

There are many types of foil available on the market.
I used R
anger Shiny Transfer Foil Sheets

If you have ever used a "rub-on" you will know how to do this.  The difference between this and a rub-on however is that your foil will only stick to the area with the glue.  If you rub it on an area of the paper without glue, it will not adhere to the paper! Which is good!

Notice that the gold foil isn't perfect,
but that's what makes it look artsy!
Continue applying foil until you are satisfied with the look of your project.  It's that easy!  There is no drying time to speak of, it dries in just minutes! Here are some other cards I made using the FOIL technique!

I hope you liked today's technique and that you will give it a try!
Happy Creating and Happy National Craft Month!
