Making a 12x12 Scrapbook Layout with 8x8 Paper

Hi There! It’s Lynda from Scrapbook with Lynda back to share another scrapbook layout I made using the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day collection.

graphic 45, fotobella, scrapbook layout

8x8 paper pads aren’t just for cards and mini albums - they can be used on 12x12 layouts like this one.

Using a Graphic 45 8x8 Paper Pad on a 12x12 Scrapbook Layout

I love to have lots of layers of paper on my scrapbook layouts, so 8x8 paper pads are perfect for that use.

graphic 45, fotobella, scrapbook layout

On this scrapbook layout I selected a 12x12 solid paper from the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day Patterns and Solids paper pad to use as the background, then layered two sheets from the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day 8x8 paper pad to make and interesting backdrop for my photos.

Creating the Page Title

I like to have a title on each of my scrapbook pages, but it’s totally up to you if you include one.

graphic 45, fotobella, scrapbook layout

Graphic 45 has it’s own distinctive color pallet, so I decided to cut my title using an alphabet die set and a sheet of paper from the G45 Catch of the Day Patterns and Solids paper pad. Just a touch of glue, and my title is in place.

Add a Place to Journal

Next I selected this 4x6 card from the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day journaling card set as my journal spot for this layout.

graphic 45, fotobella, scrapbook layout

There wasn’t an exact match of the Cape Cod Chips logo in the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day collection, but I think this one is pretty close.

Adding Embellishment Clusters

A couple embellishment clusters finish off this scrapbook layout.

In this cluster I layered a few of stickers from the G45 Catch of the Day collection.

This embellishment cluster sits above the journal spot and is a combination of stickers and die cuts from the collection.

This embellishment cluster is also a mix of Catch of the Day stickers and die cuts. Did you notice that I kept the embellishment clusters pretty simple? That’s because the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day has such complex patterns on it, so I find keeping the embellishment clusters simple works best.

It’s been so much fun sharing these scrapbook layouts with you. This is the last of my three layouts using the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day collection. It’s a fun collection to work with. I’ll be back again in July to share more paper crafting with you. In the meantime check out my Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook pages to see other projects I’m creating.

Happy Scrapping!

A Trio of Home Decor Pieces Made with Prima Magic Love

home decor with Prima Magic Love

Hi crafty friends. It’s Kristine and I’m back again with a set of home decor pieces that I created with the Prima Magic Love paper collection. This collection is truly a versatile collection that can be used on so many paper crafting projects. As I was cleaning up my workspace from my last project (the mini notebook), I decided I needed to create organizers for my supplies. Thus, my next design team project was born!

Home Decor Piece #1

For my first project, I am recycling a tea canister and turning it into a paintbrush holder. This project is fairly simple and the finished piece can be used in many ways. To create the holder, use any type of leftover or recycled jar. Mine is a tin canister. I cut a piece of the 12 x 12 Prima Magic Love paper to fit the canister and used double sided tape to attach it to the canister. Some Nuvo mousse in silver and pink along the rim give it some added flair. I will use select pieces from the 6 x 6 paper pad to embellish the papers and add a piece of heart trim around the top. Then, a pink bow from my stash, a pixie flower from the collection, and a few Sparkletz gems finish off this home decor piece.

Piece #2 - The Desktop Organizer

To create my second project, I used my Glowforge to cut an organizer caddy. Before assembling the pieces, I will trace around them on the 12 x 12 papers for a perfect fit. I selected papers to match my first home decor piece so they will be a coordinated set. Before adhering the papers, I will paint the pieces white since there will be a small border around the edges.

Because this is going to be a functional caddy for my desktop supplies, I am going to leave the embellishments as flat as possible. I cut several postage stamp images from the 12 x 12 paper and used a cut apart from the 6 x 6 papers. A piece of the heart trim adds a sweet touch to the top of the home decor caddy. To give it a bit of sparkle, I added a few Sparkletz to the front along with one of the gorgeous Prima flowers from the collection.

Piece #3 - Trinket Tray

For my final home decor piece, I am making a trinket tray to display in my craft room. I bought a little wooden tray from the craft store and made the dividers using cardstock. To match my desktop caddy, I painted the trinket tray white. I also used the Nuvo mousse in pink to add some color to the edges. The 6 x 6 papers are the perfect size for this project. The designs are sized perfectly and the cut apart pieces work well as embellishments.

Of course, I wanted to use the wooden postage stamp stickers and think they add a fun element to the project. The chipboard stickers also add some dimension and have the sweetest images on them. I used several throughout the compartments of my home decor piece. The heart trim adds another sweet touch in the center. Of course, no home decor project is complete without those gorgeous Prima flowers so I used three on this project. Finally, I used some pearls throughout the compartments to give it a subtle touch of color throughout.

As you can see, the Prima Magic Love paper collection is quite versatile and the possibilities are endless. I hope seeing these three different home decor pieces has given you some inspiration and ideas on projects you can create for your own home. Not only are they beautiful, but they’re functional, too! Don’t forget to head over to the FotoBella online store to purchase all of the goodies in the Prima Magic Love collection. While you’re there, check out all of the other amazing products in stock.

Aquarium Scrapbook Layout Using Graphic 45 Catch of the Day

Hi There! It’s Lynda from Scrapbook with Lynda back to share some fun scrapbook layouts with you. Here’s another scrapbook layout I made using the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day collection.

Graphic 45 Catch of the Day isn’t just for fishing, it works perfectly with my photos from the New England Aquarium.

This layout is one if my favorite styles that I call a 5-7 layout, because one strip of paper is 5 inches wide and the other 7 inches. I pieced them together on a light weight piece of 12x12 white cardstock, then placed a strip of paper over the seam. It’s an easy way to get your own custom look.

Getting LOTS of Photos on a Scrapbook Layout

One of the reasons I like this style of layout so much is that it has a large area for photos. As you can tell I snapped a lot of pictures at the aquarium, so it was hard to pick just a couple.

Printed my photos in a two different smaller sizes, them arranged them like a collage on the 7 inch side of my layout.

One BIG Graphic 45 Embellishment Cluster

Another of my favorite things about this style of layout is that it creates the perfect spot for one big embellishments cluster.

When I have lots of photos on a layout I like to keep the embellishments a bit on the simple side. One large cluster of embellishments has big visual impact, without distracting from my photos. And after all aren’t the photos the star of any layout.

Creating One Big Embellishment Cluster

When I make a vertical embellishment cluster like this one I place the journal spot first. It’s the largest element in the embellishment cluster, so it has lots of visual weight.

Love the postcard pack that is part of the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day collection, because the postcards make perfect journal spots.

After the journal spot is in place I work out from there adding die cuts and stickers. Sometimes I over lap the paper covering the seam, but this time I tucked everything under.

The Graphic 45 Catch of the Day collection is so fun to scrapbook with. Love all the aquatic elements that work so well with my photos from the aquarium.

Prima Magic Love Handmade Mini Notebook

Prima Magic Love Notebook

Hello crafty friends. It’s Kristine again and today I want to share a fun and quick project I made with my Prima Magic Love 12x12 papers. I recently bought a laser cutter and decided to try it out for making a book cover. Seeing the mini cover cut out, I got inspired to create a “Love Notes” book with the Magic Love collection.

Preparing the Notebook Using Prima Magic Love

Once my book covers are cut, I will paint the edges with light pink paint. Then, I will be using gunmetal grey and French rose Nuvo mousse to the edges. The Nuvo mousse is simple to use and I applied it with my fingers. I like that it adds texture to my project while giving it a pop of color.

Nuvo Mousse
Nuvo Mousse adds color and texture

Next, I selected a few of the 12x12 sheets and cut them down to size. My book will hold pages that are 5 1/2” x 3 3/8”. After selecting my papers, I score each one and round the edges using a corner punch. In addition to my Prima Magic Love papers, I will be using pink and white copy paper in the book. These pages will allow for room to write down notes and journal.

Finally, I selected some of the Magic Love ephemera pieces that I will be using to decorate the pages. I will complete this step once my pages are sewn into the signature. To see how I sew in my signature using a 5-hole pamphlet stitch, check out the video below on my YouTube channel.

Decorating the Notebook

Throughout the signature, I added some of the cut apart cards from the 12x12 Magic Love papers. I cut out some of the postage stamp images and used them as mini inserts. The ephemera pieces are a great way to add tuck spots for the journaling cards. Because the Magic Love papers are so sweet, I left them alone and did not embellish them. I just couldn’t bring myself to cover up the colorful images. This is why I add plain paper to my journals! To give my plain pages some color, I used Washi tape from the Simple Stories Vintage My Valentine bundle.

For the cover, I cut pieces of the 12x12 paper to fit and rounded the corners. A strip of heart trim runs down the long edge of the cover, and it is also from the Magic Love collection. Then, I used the “LOVE” chipboard sticker to make my “Love Notes” cover. I also added three of the coordinating flowers from the Magic Love collection. For some extra sparkle, I added a few Sparkletz that I thought looked cute with the collection.

Mini Notebook decorated with Magic Love

All of the products I used to make this notebook are still available to purchase on the FotoBella website. This mini notebook is just one of many simple, yet beautiful projects you can create with the Magic Love collection. Check out the FotoBella online store to get started on a project of your own!

Elegance - Prima Doll Tag

Hello Friends,

Diane here to share with you some crafty inspiration using the Graphic 45 Elegance collection. This Lovely collection is full of roses, florals, foliage, stripes and geometric designs. The beautiful white and pink florals pop off the papers. This collection reminds me of Paris and has vintage dress forms, dresses, perfume bottles and fans. It’s an elegant lady like collection. I just adore the pink with the black and grey color combination. It’s beautifully elegant.

Let’s Get Started

I have had this Prima doll stamp in my stash for a while. Her name is “Mindy” and I have only used her one other time I can think of. Since Fotobella sells all the new Prima dolls stamps I thought I would give you an idea on what you can make with one. I am really happy with how this turned out. I was able to use lots of products in my stash and I hope that you too will pull out all those embellishments and have a go at it.

All the Details

I stamped “Mindy” with black Memento ink on white cardstock. I paper pieced her dress using the Elegance papers. I used white embossing powder on the bottom part of her dress and added Diamond Dust to give it some sparkle. Also, I added Diamond Dust to her head band, shoes and to the white crochet butterfly. The sentiment is embossed with shinny black powder on pink card stock. I added pearls, pink foam roses, black & white twine, fussy cut roses, and I even did some stamping on the inserts for the back pocket of the tag. The dress form stamp by Momenta went perfect with this collection. I stamped it in black and used my Copic markers to color some of the images. I used some black fringe at the bottom and I created a large pink bow for the top with Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Graphic 45 Catch of the Day Scrapbook Layout

Hi There! It’s Lynda from Scrapbook with Lynda back to share some fun scrapbook layouts with you. This time I’m working with the Graphic 45 Catch of the Day collection. I was so happy my design team box had this collection in it, because I have so many photos that I can scrapbook with it.

We had a fun trip to Cape Cod a few years ago where we attended a fly fishing school, then toured the area. This is the first collection I’ve seen that is specifically Cape Cod themed, so I was thrilled to receive it. The first layout I’m making with Graphic 45 Catch of the Day is about the fly fishing school we attended, so picked out a bunch of fishing themed supplies.

Decided to showcase this fish paper, so I selected it plus two other sheets from the 12x12 solids pad. Mounted my photos on the deep blue paper, then created a background using the other two paper. So fun to have fish on my layout about a fishing school. One of the journal cards makes the perfect journal spot.

Fishing Themed Scrapbook Layout

Decided to create one long cluster under the photos, because I want as much of the fish paper to show as possible.

Looking through the sticker sheet and die cut pack I found all these fun fishing related embellishments, so I clustered them together. Wish we caught as many fish as these stickers have on them!

When I create long clusters like this I pull out a lot of things I want to use, then start at one side and work across the page. I like everything to over lap a bit, and to vary the size.

Some of the embellishments are tucked under the photo mat, while others over lap it. Variety brings interest to the page, so I try to change things up.

Added a few pop dots behind this die cut, so the page would have a bit of dimension.

Just love how this scrapbook layout turned out, so I’m excited to work on the next one. The Graphic 45 Catch of the Day collection is really a fun one.
